Hello members of CentreBC,
It has been some time since I reached out to you and I apologize for that. Getting a political movement off the ground is both rewarding and hard work. And I’m proud of what we have built:
- A centrist brand that appeals to many British Columbians
- A draft constitution–a play book for building our party
- A new advanced CRM database that can facilitate winning campaigns
- Money in the bank
We are excited to host our first Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 20, 2026
This AGM is a critical point in the development of our young party. We will:
- Present a draft constitution to replace the existing place holder
- Hold elections for the four table officers of the party (President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary)
- Seek candidates for the chairs of the committees (Fundraising, Communication, Membership and Policy)
- Ask the Presidents of the riding associations to elect a Provincial Chair
And we will choose a new Leader of CentreBC.
I have long indicated I did not intend to seek re-election. I am facing some personal health challenges and need to step down from the leadership.
You may have noticed some changes to Executive Council. Three people have resigned from the executive in the midst of legal threats from a former member. This is regrettable and understandable. We thank them for the countless hours of hard work they have put into building our young party. These threats are a distraction, and we intend to get past them and continue the work of building a true alternative for British Columbians.
We need you to get us to this AGM and take this party beyond. Do you think a principled CentreBC party is worth the effort? Will you get involved to move it forward? Now is the time to step up. We need Comms people, a membership chair and a Provincial Chair for our riding associations. We need more members to form more riding associations and yes, we need more money.
This is a lot, I know. But if you think CentreBC is worth building, I invite you to join me for a webinar on Wednesday, March 25 at 7:00pm to talk about CentreBC’s future. In the interim, we will begin posting the documents on our website that will guide us toward the elections and leadership contest coming up.
It has been my privilege to be a part of starting CentreBC. Now it is up to all of you to carry it forward.
To attend the webinar, please register at [email protected]
Most sincerely,
Karin
