Michael is the retired principle of a communication, government relations and stakeholder engagement firm in Vancouver. He was the Director of Communication for the Minister of Justice and Canada’s Attorney General.
Michael has been the secretary of CentreBC since December of 2025. In that time, he drafted the CentreBC Bylaws, reorganized the file system, created shared calendars and Slack, drafted most of the rules & procedures, job descriptions, and other documentation needed for the party to function and the AGM and leadership contest to proceed.
Michael has a history as a community social impact leader. In 2021, his priority focus on climate action led him to launch Governance for Our Kids Climate. He has volunteered on non-profit boards since 1996, holding a variety of positions including president, finance chair, governance chair and a contracted executive director. Michael has been doing governance training for boards since 1999, first with Volunteer Vancouver, then as a consultant facilitating strategic planning sessions and as a knowledge philanthropist for VantagePoint. He has worked in multiple sectors and organisations including a maritime museum, a social service agency, a pan-provincial umbrella organisation of social service agencies, a political party, a seniors housing association, a harm reduction society in Vancouver’s DTES, and a refugee resettlement charity.
